SPMHA PROGRAM STREAMS
COMMUNITY PROGRAM STREAM
Welcome to the heart of Sherwood Park Minor Hockey - the SPMHA Community Stream Program! With over 1300 Sherwood Park-based athletes ranging from 4 to 18 years of age, our program unites more than 65 teams competing in the expansive Edmonton Federation Hockey League. Our U9, U11, U13, U15, and U18 divisions showcase the talent and dedication of our young Sherwood Park athletes. Embracing friendly competition, our SPMHA teams go head-to-head with counterparts from other hockey associations in Edmonton and its surrounding areas. To ensure fair play and exciting matchups, all our teams are tiered according to the Alberta One Standardized Tiering Model, guaranteeing well-matched opponents for each skill level.
Our U7 division offers an exciting house league experience, allowing your player's skills to develop locally without the need to drive all over Edmonton for competition. Join us in fostering a love for the game and a thriving hockey community right here in Sherwood Park!
Our Discovery division is designed for 2019 & 2020 born players who are new to hockey and just starting on their hockey journey. For this season, 2019 born players will have the option to register in either Discovery or U7, depending on experience.

COMPETITIVE PROGRAM STREAM (U11 & U13 Only)
Introducing the SPMHA Competitive Stream Program for U11 and U13 athletes! In partnership with the Sherwood Park King's Athletic Club, SPMHA is thrilled to continue offering an exceptional opportunity for top-tiered athletes in the upcoming 2024-25 season. Our program is designed to attract and retain the best talent and coaches in Sherwood Park, propelling them towards sanctioned true AA and AAA elite-stream hockey. Players selected to one of our Competitive Stream teams will receive additional on-ice instruction by highly trained coaches and certified skill providers, an enhanced apparel package, more consistent ice-times, mirroring the development resources available through AA & AAA hockey.
Our competitive program teams will each compete in the highest tiering category within the Edmonton Federation Hockey League U11 & U13 age categories.
- U11AA - Junior Kings - Arrows & Barons
- U13 Tier 1 - Junior Knights - White Knights & Black Knights
Considering the additional commitment and expenses related to competitive stream programs, we provide a separate tryout process for both the U11 and U13 age groups. Prior to team formation, selected players will be invited to an informative session where they will receive a detailed outline of the program and relevant team costs. Join us on this exciting journey of enhanced development and increased program awareness for your young athlete!

RECREATIONAL PROGRAM STREAM
Welcome to the exciting world of our Recreational Stream Program! Designed for families seeking a more relaxed and affordable hockey experience, this program offers a non-tiered team format within the Edmonton Federation Hockey League's Recreation Division.
Our Recreational Stream caters to a wide range of players, from beginners learning the fundamentals of hockey to those with more experience. It's the perfect option for those new to hockey, as well as those looking to step back from the higher commitment levels and costs associated with our other program streams.
In this program, we prioritize the joy of the game and focus on creating a fun and supportive environment for all participants. The emphasis here is on the game itself. As such, practices are offered only a few times throughout the season, mainly for players who need to develop their basic skills in order to enjoy the game.
Join us for an enriching hockey experience that values camaraderie, sportsmanship, and the love of the sport. Whether your child is taking their first steps on the ice or looking for a more laid-back approach to the game, our Recreational Stream is the ideal choice. Discover the perfect balance of hockey enjoyment and family-friendly atmosphere with us!
