The Sherwood Park Minor Hockey Association is excited to announce that nominations are now open for the 2025 SPMHA Volunteer Appreciation & Awards Banquet. This annual event is our opportunity to recognize the individuals who go above and beyond to make a meaningful impact within our hockey community—on the ice, behind the bench, and beyond.

As we gear up for another unforgettable evening of celebration, we invite you to participate by nominating those dedicated individuals who help shape the SPMHA experience for players and families alike. Our volunteers, coaches, managers, and community supporters are the foundation of our association, and this is your chance to shine a spotlight on the people who make a real difference.

The 2025 SPMHA Volunteer Appreciation & Awards Banquet
Date: Saturday, March 29, 2025
Location: Strathcona County Community Centre – Agora
Time: Doors Open at 6:00 PM | Dinner Served at 7:00 PM

This year’s banquet promises an evening of celebration and community spirit, featuring a full catered meal, music, games, fantastic prizes, and a cash bar. It’s the perfect occasion to gather as a community, reflect on the season, and honor the commitment and passion of our volunteers. Each team will be provided with four (4) free tickets with an option to reserve additional seats for their team staff, and general membership tickets will be made available closer to the event if available.

Award Nominations Are Now Open

We are calling on all members to submit nominations for the following awards. Help us highlight the dedication and passion of those who make a difference every day in Sherwood Park Minor Hockey.

Rookie Coach of the Year
This award recognizes a coach with less than two years of coaching experience in SPMHA who has demonstrated outstanding leadership, commitment, and a positive impact on their players during the past season.

Coach of the Year
Presented to a coach who consistently exemplifies the highest qualities of leadership, sportsmanship, and dedication, both on and off the ice. Consideration is also given to the coach’s overall service history within SPMHA.

Manager of the Year
This award honors the team manager who has gone above and beyond in their role, demonstrating exceptional organizational skills, communication, and dedication to their team. Their efforts ensure a smooth and enjoyable season for players, parents, and coaches.

Sportsman Appreciation Award
Awarded to an individual who has made significant contributions to minor hockey in Sherwood Park, this recognition highlights those who actively promote the values of community, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

Volunteer of the Year
This award celebrates a volunteer whose tireless efforts and selfless dedication have made a lasting impact on SPMHA. Consideration is given not only to their contributions this season but also to their history of service and commitment to the association over the years.

Darren St. Jean Memorial Scholarship

In memory of former SPMHA player Darren St. Jean, this $500 scholarship is awarded annually to an SPMHA Community U18 player who has demonstrated academic achievement, hockey dedication, commitment, and coachability. All eligible U18 players in their final season are encouraged to apply.

The deadline for scholarship applications is March 21, 2025.
