Sherwood Park Minor Hockey

Sherwood Park Minor Hockey's Elite Stream (AAA & AA teams) is operated through the Sherwood Park Kings Athletic Club, a separate but connected operating arm of SPMHA. Collectively, this program is typically called "Kings" or "King's Club". The Kings draw zone for their AAA teams include the Strathcona Minor Hockey & Camrose Minor Hockey areas. Players must register to tryout, and any Sherwood Park players who are not selected to one of the elite stream teams are released back to our community stream program.

The Sherwood Park Kings Athletic Club hosts one team at the U13AA level. For 2024-25, the Sherwood Park Sin Bin Jets will be competing in the highly competitive NAHL U13AA Regional Division,

For 2024-25, Sherwood Park plans to participate in the Hockey Albertan U13AAA pilot project, which is being put in place to increase the competitive level at U13, featuring best-on-best gameplay, while increasing true AAA & AA opportunities for Alberta Hockey players. Details are still being finalized by Hockey Alberta and our operating partners. We look forward to announcing full details of this exciting development soon.

The Sherwood Park Kings Athletic Club hosts one teams at the U15AAA level. The Sherwood Park Flyers compete in the highly competitive AEHL U15AAA League. This team features the very best players from within the Sherwood Park AAA draw zone, which extends beyond Sherwood Park into Strathcona County & Camrose areas. The Flyers regularly produce players that are selected in the WHL Draft including current NHL'ers Carter Hart, Sam Steel and Brenden Guhle, along with WHL standout Kaiden Guhle & AHL standout Matthew Robertson.

The J. Ennis U18AAA Kings are a highly regarded hockey team hosted by the Sherwood Park Kings Athletic Club. They compete in the U18AAA division of the Alberta Elite Hockey League (AEHL), known for being the most highly competitive league in Alberta. The J. Ennis Kings have a history of success and a strong commitment to player development. They emphasize development, education, character and community while showcasing their players against other elite teams within the AEHL with a goal of moving as many players as possible to the next level. As part of the Sherwood Park Kings Athletic Club, the J. Ennis Kings are a respected organization within the hockey community, fostering the growth and success of young talent on and off the ice.

The U18AAA Reign are the newest addition to the Sherwood Park Kings Athletic Club. They will be competing in the highly competitive U18AAA female division of the Alberta Female Hockey League (AFHL), known for being the most highly competitive female league in Alberta. The Reign look to establish themselves and build on the prior successes of our female program with a strong commitment to player development. They will emphasize development, education, character and community while showcasing their players against other elite female teams within the AFHL with a goal of moving as many players as possible to the next level. As part of the Sherwood Park Kings Athletic Club, the Reign are hosted by a respected organization within the hockey community, fostering the growth and success of young talent on and off the ice.
