The initial ice allocation plan included only two ice slots of 90 minutes each for Parity games. In order to evaluate both tier 2 teams and three tier 3 teams to try to achieve parity, along with working around flood times at the rink, we have had to get creative. I have reduced the length of the tier 2 parity game to 45 minutes, which should give us plenty of time to ensure we have an idea on whether the teams were even or not, and note proposed moves to even the teams, if necessary.

The three tier 3 teams will play two mini games of approximately 40 minutes each.

Note: For the tier 3 parity games, we ask that players remain flexible when assigned to a dressing room upon check in. We will likely need to shuffle bags from one dressing room to another, as we will need to vacate two of the dressing rooms for the group after ours. I ask that once players are dressed they pack their clothes, shoes and jackets into their bag and zip them up. Do not bring bulky or excess items – only what can fit into your bag. Bring all backup sticks and water bottles onto the benches and do not leave anything behind in the room. Once team B has finished, please change and vacate the dressing room relatively quickly so we can move bags over into the vacant one. Further instructions on the logistics of day will be provided to the players upon check in at the rink.

Tomorrow is going to be a challenge – but I know that this group is capable of absolutely rocking it tomorrow.

Before you go the the lists – please take note of the following:

  • The tier 2 and 3 parity rosters do NOT constitute final teams. Rosters for all teams/tiers will be published on or before Oct. 7th
  • Movement between teams as well as potentially up or down is still very much a possibility up to November 15, 2024.

There may be some disappointment when viewing these lists if tier placement doesn’t match your or your child’s expectations for this season. Strathcona County has created a video to help us when coping with disappointment and dealing with adversity. Please remember we do our best to place your player where they can be successful this season and can continue to grow and love the sport. We have a lot of excellent hockey players in Sherwood Park and just because your player does not make the level they were hoping for does not mean they are not a great player.

We will require assistance with timekeeping (1 each game) and bench attendants (1-2 per bench per game). If you can assist, please email to let me know.  Also, if your player is unable to make it tonight, please let me know ASAP.
